Litzi Bravo, 2024
Litzi Bravo, from the Bay Area and proud Latina, embodies passion and purpose in pursuing higher education. Currently in her fourth year at San Francisco State University, immersed in the study of Public Health with a focused minor in Women’s Health Issues. She not only delves into the intricacies of public health but also holds the distinguished position of president of a student-led association, the Health Education Student Association, and a dedicated swim teacher. As President, Litzi organizes initiatives to raise awareness of available resources for fellow students while fostering meaningful relationships between students and faculty. As a swim teacher, she can share her expertise in swimming, imparting valuable skills and promoting a healthy lifestyle among her students. Raised with a compassionate heart and a relentless dedication to service, Litzi’s journey in Public Health is deeply rooted in her upbringing. From a young age, she has been drawn to helping others, and now, as she navigates her academic path, she is driven by a profound desire to make a meaningful impact on her community. Litzi approaches her studies and future career with an open mind and thirst for knowledge. She is committed to expanding her understanding of Public Health and is eager to apply her growing expertise to address pressing health disparities and promote wellness among diverse populations. With each step she takes, Litzi is determined to contribute positively to the world around her, striving to create a brighter, healthier future for all.

Jacquline Tran, 2023

Jacqueline worked with HOP in the summer of 2023 as an undergraduate Intern, pursuing her studies at San Jose St. University. She contributed her audio-visual talents to our Transportation Stories resource, as well as conducted research on trending public health topics for HOP projects.

Sara Stevens, 2023

Sara Stevens joined HOP as an undergraduate intern while pursuing her bachelors of science in Public Health with a minor in Psychology at San Jose St. University. During the summer of 2023, she conducted thorough research to support HOP’s fundraising efforts and sought out potential opportunities from foundations. Sara also supported HOP’s Social Media and communications through building marketing emails and researching future posts. 

Charmaine Bayalan, 2023

Charmaine Bayalan worked as an undergraduate intern during the summer of 2023. She joined HOP as a rising junior at Yale University majoring in History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health. Her work during this time focused on the background of health equity within the transportation industry, especially as it relates to accessing health care. 

Ushuu Namarra, 2023

Ushuu Namarra joined HOP in the summer of 2023 as a rising junior at Yale University studying the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Her HOP work consisted mainly of researching the historical context of health disparities in our nation’s public health past, present, and future. 

Nadeen Mekhael, 2023

Nadeen worked with HOP from December 2022 – June 2023. She was instrumental in updating HOP’s Outreach and Enrollment curriculum, conducting extensive research on the changes facing states with Medicaid redetermination following the ending of the public health emergency brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the role that community health center staff and community health workers will have to mitigate the impact of these changes.

Laura Campos, 2023

Laura Campos worked with HOP as a Graduate Intern from January – May 2023 while completing her MPH from Northern Illinois University. Laura had a hand in several HOP projects, including updating the Outreach and Enrollment curriculum to reflect 2023 priorities, as well as utilizing her skills developed as an MPH student to analyze and suggest changes to HOP’s evaluation processes.

Alysa Aguilar-Hernandez, 2023

Alysa Aguilar-Hernandez interned with HOP from March – May 2023 during her final semester as an undergraduate studying public health at San Francisco State University. Alysa got a well-rounded exposure to HOP’s work, making a big impact in departments from communications to program planning. Alysa worked alongside our program staff to plan content, organize logistics and participated in our Organizational Self-Care Learning Collaborative. She also contributed to research for various projects.

Zaharaa Altwaij, 2022

Zaharaa worked at HOP as an intern during the summer of 2022 while pursuing her undergraduate degree from Yale University. She primarily spent her time as an intern developing content for the Structural Competency Training Curriculum, with a focus on conducting research covering White Supremacy and the Model Minority Myth. 

Camille Cline, 2022

Camille was a Communications Intern during the summer of 2022 while working towards her undergraduate degree in Public Health from San Diego State University. Her efforts on the communications team were focused on HOP’s 2022 update of its website, completed in November 2022. Camille also worked on creating a communications calendar and updating HOP’s social media across its accounts. 

Deanna Canales, 2022

Deanna Canales joined HOP as a graduate intern during the summer of 2022 while she was an MPH student at San Jose State University. Deanna’s primary focus was planning, recruiting participants, and conducting interviews for HOP’s resource on transportation “Telling Their Stories”. She also contributed to HOP’s communication and evaluation efforts, providing updates and insight from her graduate work. In March of 2023, HOP was proud to bring on Deanna as a Project Manager and a full-time member of the HOP team!

Zoe Rosales, 2022

Zoe worked as a Fundraising Intern during the summer of 2022 during her time majoring in Nursing as an undergraduate at Georgetown University. She worked closely with HOP’s executive director on fundraising efforts, including researching potential fundraisers and donors, crafting marketing emails, and sending communications for fundraising campaigns.  

Vanessa Reeves, 2021

Vanessa interned at HOP during the fall of 2021 as an undergraduate student majoring in public health at San Jose State University. She worked closely with HOP’s executive director on the Special and Vulnerable Population-Diabetes Task Force National Learning Webinar Series. In this role she managed the technical aspects of registration and evaluation as well as contributed to the Enabling Services content. Vanessa also designed HOP’s Strategic Plan publication for our Board of Directors.

Jayvon Moore, 2020

Jayvon worked with HOP during the summer of 2020 as an MPH student at San Jose St. University. He primarily worked on developing HOP’s Organizational Self-Care resource alongside HOP Project Managers. He also contributed to HOP program work through his writing and live facilitation.
