Special Populations - Starter KitMillions of individuals and families throughout the United States rely upon health centers as their primary source of health care, particularly those whom are uninsured, underinsured, and medically underserved. There are now more than 1,300 health centers operating in over 9,000 sites across the country. Among these, certain health centers receive specific funding to focus efforts on reaching and caring for special populations: individuals and families experiencing homelessness, agricultural workers and their dependents, and residents of public housing.
